Julia Tucker Wood, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Helping you find clarity in the relationships that shape your life
Julia Tucker Wood is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 25 years of experience helping individuals and couples navigate the relationships that shape their lives.
She is especially known for her work with couples who feel disconnected, stuck in conflict, or uncertain about what comes next. Many couples come to therapy feeling overwhelmed or unsure whether their relationship can move forward. Julia helps slow things down, identify the patterns driving disconnection, and guide couples toward more honest, effective communication and meaningful change.
Julia also works with individuals across adolescence and adulthood, including men and women who feel at a crossroads in their relationships or unsettled in their lives. She supports clients navigating anxiety, stress, identity shifts, perinatal mental health concerns, and major life transitions, including the emotional shifts that come with high school, college, young adulthood, pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood. Her work helps clients better understand what feels out of control, recognize the deeper patterns beneath the surface, and move toward greater clarity, steadiness, and connection.
Julia approaches therapy through a relational lens, helping clients understand how attachment, communication, family patterns, and life experiences shape the way they move through relationships. She draws from Gottman Method Couples Therapy, emotionally focused and attachment-based work, CBT, solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, and family systems approaches—always tailoring the process to the person or couple in front of her.
Clients often describe Julia as easy to talk to, deeply trustworthy, and someone who creates a space where they can be open without judgment. Many return to work with her over time, valuing the consistency, insight, and trusted support she provides through different stages of life.
She offers both ongoing therapy and couples intensives, with a preference for meeting in person to support deeper connection and more meaningful work.
In addition to her clinical work, Julia provides consultation and supervision to other therapists and is a trusted resource within the professional community.
As the founder of Clear Water Counseling, Julia has intentionally built a collaborative practice rich in clinical depth and specialized expertise, so clients can be thoughtfully supported through every stage of growth.

If requested, we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Because reimbursement depends on your individual plan, we recommend checking directly with your insurance provider to understand your out-of-network benefits.
